A-dec Celebrates 60 Years in the Dental Industry
Company announces dental outreach program grant and employee fundraising campaign results
Newberg, Ore., October 9, 2024 – A-dec hosted a celebration in recognition of the company’s 60th year in business.
Local employees gathered with A-dec’s family ownership and special guests from the City of Newberg, Medical Teams International, and Yamhill Community Action Partnership (YCAP).
A-dec CEO Marv Nelson opened the gathering with words of appreciation for the company’s global team.
“The dental industry is a really great business to be in, because the customers we serve are having a direct impact on people’s overall health and well-being,” shared Nelson. “The A-dec team is incredibly committed to this mission and I am proud of everything we are accomplishing to ensure our future.”
A-dec was started by husband-and-wife team, Ken and Joan Austin, who developed the “A.V.S.” (air vacuum system) in 1964, a product that revolutionized the world of dentistry. Today, the company remains a privately-held, family-owned company, with over 1,300 employees worldwide, and recognized as a global leader in dental solutions.
Several generations of A-dec’s family ownership, the Austin | Parrish family, were present at the celebration, expressing gratitude to the employees for their commitment to the company.
“We have an incredible legacy that we’re very proud of,” said Scott Parrish, A-dec Chairman of the Board. “As A-dec has experienced significant growth and success over these past 60 years, at each step of the way, we have remained focused on making the highest quality products, providing the best service to our customers, and living our values, ‘The A-dec Way.’ I’m very proud of this team and believe our greatest days are ahead of us.”
In recognition of the company’s mission to work for the betterment of dentistry worldwide, and focus on community philanthropy, the event featured two additional announcements.
A-dec’s employees organized a fundraising campaign, “60 Days of Giving,” in support of YCAP, a local non-profit that provides social services to improve the lives of low-income families in Yamhill County. The employee-driven campaign raised over $55,000, which will benefit community programs including housing stabilization, energy assistance, regional food banks, and youth outreach.
The event concluded with an announcement about A-dec’s continuing support of Medical Teams International and their Care & Connect program, pledging $100,000 over the next three years. A-dec has supported Medical Teams’ mobile dental program since 1990, donating towards program funding and giving dental equipment for Medical Teams’ mobile health vans.
“We are so grateful to A-dec for their continued generosity and ongoing support of this vital work in our community,” said Joe DiCarlo, Interim Executive Director for U.S. Programs. “We look forward to many more years of collaboration to help ensure our neighbors receive quality care that otherwise would be difficult or impossible for them to obtain.”
